Sunday Inspiration: “All you need is love…”

Sing along with me…

“All you need is love, la, la, la, la, la.

All you need is love, la, la, la, la, la.

All you need is love, love, love is all you need.”

These are some of the best known song lyrics in the world — thank you Beatles! — and they are so true…and sometimes not so true.

Happy Day-After-Valentine’s-Day to all of you. You may be sick and tired of all the Valentine’s hype, but I do want to share one especially inspiring story I ran across recently.

It’s about a couple who have loved each other and lived together for 72 years, and they finally got married. They’re both in wheel chairs, being 91 and 90, but they had enough spunk to finally tie the knot.

What took them so long?  I’ll give you a hint: their names are Vivian Boyack and Alice “Nonie” Dubes. Yes, they’re both women and because of that they have not been allowed to be wed for all these years.

This may be a controversial subject for some, but having written seventy-something novels about loving relationships, how can I not celebrate the glorious love that gives purpose and meaning and joy to all of our lives.

You can read more about Vivian and Nonie’s wedding here.

In the meantime, I hope you will join me in celebrating love whenever and wherever it blooms.

Another song that comes to mind is “what the world needs now is love, sweet love, that’s the only thing . . . .
    And, I’ll add, unconditional love.

I am all for love no matter who it is. It seems that there is so much hate and anger in the world sometimes, I think we need all the love we can get! Besides, it is only fair for all citizens to have the same rights.
