Sunday Inspiration: The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter

“You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.” -author unknown

Has this happened to you? Have you been stuck reading and re-reading a certain chapter in your life? I suspect it’s happened to all of us a multitude of times.

As an author, the last thing I want the reader to do is to keep re-reading the chapter they just finished. I want the reader to be so captivated and inspired that she can’t wait to read the next chapter and then the next.

There’s a parallel to our lives here. Too often we get stuck on a chapter that we can’t let go. The injury may be too great. The betrayal too agonizing. The grief too devastating. And so we read and re-read and re-read, perhaps longing for the circumstances to somehow change, for hope to suddenly appear where we haven’t seen it before.

But the truth is that we cannot start a new chapter in our lives until we say to ourselves, “That chapter is over. It’s done. It cannot change. I’m ready for the next chapter to begin.”

I’ve given this a lot of thought with my writing career and made some changes that will make my next chapter fresher and more vital and fun for me. It’s taken time and care, but now? Viva next chapter.

Are you ready for yours?

Happy your next chapter will be exciting for you. Hope all your fans are still included. It would be tough to live without your books.
I feel as though I am in the middle of a chapter in my own life. It’s an exciting one for me. Don’t want this one to end for awhile.
It took me a long time to get past one of my recent chapters, but I’m off and running again. Sometimes it’s hard to accept when chapters don’t end the way you had planned.
