Tales of the Pacific and A New Online Magazine
I’ll confess that the internet is a guilty pleasure. And the new tools that come with it? I love them, too.
Let me introduce you to the newest toy in my digital toybox, a little something called Glossi. Can you guess what the word refers to?
Our family has always been computer happy. Although it’s a cliche, we really were the first folks on our block to own one. I began my writing career on a Radio Shack Model One, yes, that’s One as in no hard drive and a tape back-up system.
I began writing romances on that little darling, and she was a shy girl indeed. Model One tended to go berserk when I wrote love scenes and promptly deleted them. Last chapters often met the same fate, and I’m sure my screams are still echoing in outer space. But I was so glad to be able to make corrections in a chapter without using Wite-Out, and to duplicate my work without carbon paper, that I felt I was surfing at the peak of the technology wave.
You know the rest from your own experience. Internet we paid for by the minute and dialed up on telephones. Shabby, hard to access bulletin boards. Email. Remember when we didn’t have it? So it goes. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest.
And today, Glossi.
When I mentioned that my family was computer happy I should have mentioned that my husband and three sons vied for first place honors. Our oldest is now an attorney who specializes in cybersecurity. Another is a photographer who shoots with a digital camera, puts his photos online and uses the internet to promote them. The third works in information technology and can’t remember a time without a computer.
And the husband? Well, he’s the one who took the Glossi link I’d sent a few weeks ago and promptly began to assemble a Glossi magazine featuring my Tales of the Pacific ebooks, photos of the settings, excerpts, even a map to show where the four stories are set.
He’s a keeper.
I think Michael, who is now officially my project manager, had a ball. He’s planning a much more extended edition for my Goddesses Anonymous novels. Character photos and bios, synopses of all the stories, lots of fabulous Asheville photos, and links to organizations that reach out the way that the goddesses do in the novels. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.
In the meantime, enjoy our Tales of the Pacific debut. Just click on the cover at the top, then click the arrows on the right to turn pages. Enjoy. I hope you have half as much fun with it as we did.
Love seeing the map of where the Pacific Series took place. Would love to go visit!
Only let myself start one of your books every two months or so…. What to know why? Cause they are a treat, and I can’t put them down once I start! Thanks for the wonderful treats!
Thanks for the wonderful comment.
I found you several years ago and love all of your books
I have enjoyed reading your books! My favorites are Wedding Ring and Endless Chain, but I haven’t read Lover’s Knot!
The Pacific Series sounds like great reads! Love the online magazine, Tales of the Pacific!
Please enter me to win – contest
I don’t do ebooks – only prints.
I also write reviews on every book I read and pass them on.
Reviewers are always much appreciated.
I always enjoy reading different. I never read any of your books but they sound like books I would enjoy.
Living in the Netherlands I like to read your books and I hope you will keep on writing.
Greetings, Dini
Having recently gotten an Ipad, I’m thrilled to read the excerpts of your books in Glossi. I’m especially interested in the books based in New Zealand and Australia. Some friends traveled there last year to visit family and after seeing their photos and hearing stories I was amazed at the landscapes, wild life, architecture etc. Would love to read ALL of the books in that series.
Glossi really looks nice on an iPad, doesn’t it? It’s so much fun. (Hope you make it down under someday yourself.)
The pictures are just gorgeous! They take me back to our Hawaii trip for our twentieth anniversary – I’d go back in a heartbeat!
I enjoyed your Bolg. Thanks for a chance to enter and winn some books. Thanks for the chance.
Love the Shenandoah Album series and the accompanying quilt books! I hope you’ll be doing an addition to that series soon. Love ’em!
Sure planning to.
I just read your recent email newsletter and linked to your blog – so that I could make a comment and thus be entered in your contest. I also went to Glossi link and viewed your Tales of the Pacific. Love it!!! Thanks for all your wonderful books – and links.
Wow! The magazine is so pretty & I agree, I love the map! Puts everything in perspective for me.
I have to laugh. I grew up without internet, no googling for homework assignments here. But ya know, we survived. How I don’t know because I love the internet. All the info I want at the touch if a mouse. It is probably the thing with the most impact on my life before I could never go back to college and now I can sit in my home and attend. It is amazing!!!!
I absolutely agree.
I was so happy when I read your first book, now I am a big fan of yours and read everyone! Now anxious to read your new one, and hope I am a winner!
Love the Emilie Richards books that have quilting in them. Hope to read another one of those in the future. Thanks
I liked the “teasers”. Great new tool.
thankyou for all of your wonderful writing … is there any chance of another Shenandoah Album novel?
I am firmly committed, and plan to examine all my options once my third Goddesses book is finished next month. Stay tuned.
My quilt guild loves reading & discussion your books. We would be thrilled to have a set of your books for our library! Happy writing! Happy Reading!
Oh, how I hope to win those 5 books – especially the Shenandoah Album series as I loaned mine to a person who has not returned them.
Agree with the previous post, would love a map. I have gone so far as to try and draw up maps for the Keys series, as well as family trees
For the New Orleans trilogy. Just love your writing!
Kerry, wow! That’s dedication. I’m so impressed.
I seem to remember with the foggy thing I call a brain that I have read one of the books set in Australia. But the others must be long out of print because in all my checking of libraries and e-books, these are some that I’ve missed. Looking forward to finding them and reading them all.
Hard as it is to keep up with a voracious reader now I have something new to look for in my internet searching.
I need more, more, more of an Emilie fix
Love your books. Like the way they have substance, history, vivid description of the locations and heros and heroins with character. Can’t wait to read Tales of the Pacific! Thanks Emilie! Keep on keeping on what you are best at.
Lots of best wishes!
Australia has been on the top of my bucket list of places I want to visit.. I once did a project on it back in grade school, many, many year ago and I remember getting an “A” for it.
I just want to thank you for all of the joy that your books have brought to my life. Opening a new book from you is like getting together with a much loved, old friend!
And thank you for telling me.
I love you’re books bring me happiness. Thank you!!
Hello,
greetings from Denmark. I really love your books and also enjoy to read them in English! Greetings from Denmark,
Eva Maria
I always love to see my Danish copies, and hear from my Danish readers.
I met you once at Kate and Becca’s Quilt Shop in Scottsdale, Pa. when you had a book signing day. I bought several of your books and have been a fan ever since. I always buy your new books. Sure hope I win your contest!
I’m so interested in the Glossi. I manage an Antiques Show fundraiser for a non-profit agency. This is such a great marketing tool we can use and it is FREE. Thanks so much for sharing.
Free and fun. Good luck with your own.
I also loved all your comments about DIY. I subscribed to so many DIY blogs and Facebook connections. I too have lots of UFO projects. In fact, I just moved into a beautiful new home for just me and my two cats that has a large craft room to hold all my stuff. A girl can have dreams, can’t she?
And sometimes they come true. Congratulations.
Thanks for information and link to Quilting Around Chautauqua. I’ve heard of Chautaugua, but never the quilting show. I have subscribed to their newsletter and will put it on my bucket list.
I first found you with Wedding Ring and have been a big fan since. Love the Shenandoah series the most, probably because I am a quilter. Happiness Keyes comes in a close second! I am enjoying the Goddess Anonymous books as well. Characters in your books feel like friends, and people I want to spend time with.
I love your spiderweb illustration, I also agree with the internet comments. I am addicted to an online game, things to do each day, don’t want to miss it. Cuts into my reading time, however I still read more than most people I know, about 1-2 books a week. I hope I win some books, but if I dont I still know you are there. LOL have a great day
Congrats on your release. This book is being put on my TBR list. Please enter me in your contest. Thank you.
Sounds like a good book; I have a few of this authors on my tbr.
That’s really impressive, I wish I knew that much about computers. I do enjoy using them.
Thank you very much for the books you write. Your books are great companions. Keeping my fingers crossed for the contest. Thank you.
Big fan and would love to have these books
I would love to win those five books. Although I have read many of your books, I have not read any of these. Sounds like good reading material for the upcoming winter!
I love your Shenandoah novels, are more of your series going to be on Audio?? I keep looking for them but most of them are not available via audio.
I have the audio rights to many of my books, and I plan to put them in audio format. It’s an exciting breakthrough in publishing. Which one would you like the most?
My granddaughters didn’t have a clue what carbon paper or wite out was used for when they helped me clean out my desk and we found some. Funny to see you mention it here. Love to read and would love to win your books.
I love al your books but the Shenandoah series is my favorite! I have read almost all of them but have started going to the library again and reading them again!! I read three in the past two weeks! I am a single parent to two girls and would love to win my own copies!! Thank you and please keep writing! 🙂
What a coincidence! I’m in the middle of reading ” Endless Chain”, and I’m already looking forward to starting the third book. Winning your giveaway would be great. Not as computer happy as your family seems to be. Put me in front of a computer and it works faster than a sleeping pill.
Smiling here. I love that image.
I’ve loved every one of Emilie’s books that I’ve read but the last one is the most memorable. That was Somewhere between luck and trust. It just kept me turning the pages. Hope I can find these from the Glossi!
I hope I can find these books that Glossi had the excepts of. Each one tantalizes me and makes me want to read more.
Just use the links under each excerpt to find them online. Enjoy.
I enjoyed so much your first books,
Blessed is the Busybody
Let There Be Suspects
Beware False Prophets
A Lie for a Lie
A Truth for a Truth
But the one book, that I go back to over and over, is The Parting Glass.
I love that you love the mysteries. They are the most fun to write, that’s for sure.
I have been following you since you and Pat Sloan did the Quilt-a-Long! I am so hooked on all your works and am working my way through the list when I am not quilting. Thanks for the chance to escape.
Glad the reading and the quilting don’t interfere with each other. Both are so important.
Wow! Five books this year! That is awesome. You are one busy lady! Keep up the good work so us readers can keep reading.
This is the first I have heard of Glossi. I kind of rely on my daughter to keep me up to speed.
As I rely on my sons and other writers.
I just had a quick glance at glossi will read it in more depth during the day when i get time i just want to say it looks amazing! I started to read your books more years ago than i want to remember but the boos Runaway, The Way Back Home, Fugitive as stuck in my head over the years and i hope they will eventually they will be re released by paperback or kindle.
I’m delighted to say I own the e-rights to these three, and while I am not allowed to print copies, I can put them up online. So stay tuned, and thanks for reminding me.
My second entry for the book giveaway – I got the ‘inspiration’ for my comment from the doctor yesterday!!! Dealing with a husband who is in denial of any control over his health is driving me crazy – and the doctor yesterday told me I had to ‘create a world for myself’ where I could get away from my daily stress of dealing with all of it. I told him I read every day and had a favorite author…you guessed it…Emilie Richards! He told me that was the best medicine for ME. Thank you Emilie – just finished all the Tales of the Pacific and will begin re-reading the Goddesses until #3 comes out!
Pam, this must be very hard for you, as it would be for any of us. You have a smart, thoughtful doctor, and I’m glad my books help.
I’ve just recently discovered your books and now I can’t get enough! I love that they focus on friendship and love and sharing experiences, etc. Too often I find myself discouraged and upset about world issues and this grounds me. I love that there are always new books coming out. I won’t run out of good reading for a long time!! Thanks for sharing your life experiences and your joyful heart with us!
Thank you and all my other commenters for making my day so bright.
I’m glad your husband is a keeper…you are blessed. Would so love to win? Have a blessed day and keep on writing.
I’ve read several of Emilie’s books and loved them.I’d love to win.
This is my third entry for your contest. I have enjoyed your books throughout the years. Can’t wait to check out GLOSSI.COM and your addition to it.
