Sunday Inspiration: A Star is Born

A star is born“Look, talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know. That’s just the truth. And there’s one reason we’re supposed to be here is to say something so people want to hear. So you got to grab it, and you don’t apologize, and you don’t worry about why they’re listening, or how long they’re going to be listening for, you just tell them what you want to say. Don’t you understand what I’m trying to tell you?” -Jackson Maine in A Star is Born

Proman and I went to see A Star is Born this week, and one of the most powerful and beautiful parts of the movie for me was when the singer Jackson Maine discovered the amazing talent of Ally (Lady Gaga) and fell in love with her — and no, the photo above is not from the film. The quote above resonated with me both as a vocalist in my younger days and even more so as an author.

All of us want desperately to “say something so people want to hear,” to share our message, our truth with the world. And I feel so grateful that I’m able to do that as an author.

You have a message, too. How do you share it? There are so many wonderful ways.
