Sunday Inspiration: “The Work of Christmas”

Christmas Tree by pixaio at Stock.xchngWhen the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:

To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,

To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among brothers,
To make music in the heart.

(thanks to author and theologian Howard Thurman)

I love this quote, because it’s a reminder that the work of Christmas is ongoing and vital. Have a joyful, thoughtful Christmas day as well as the 364 days following. May we all make music in our hearts.

This is so true. Christmas is so built up with preparations and expectations, but we do forget about what comes after. Helping our fellow men or beasts is so important on our journey. Not just for the help we give to them, but for what we receive in the giving. I want to contribute more in 2014, even though I wish I could help physically, I can’t. I am no writer, but I hope I am not babbling too much. Thank you, Emilie, for helping us pause and reflect.

What a beautiful quote! We definitely should strive to do as it says. In addition to praying that I can do so, I also shall pray that our leaders will also do so. We need them to work for peace and to respect others, including those who may have differing opinions from theirs
    — and to have music in their hearts.
