Announcing Our January 2019 Reading Challenge Selection

Happy 2019 everyone!

My real New Year post is tomorrow, but since this is the first day of the 2019 Reading Challenge, I wanted to post the January category today.

You can find out more about the challenge here. The discussion each month will happen at the Read Along With Emilie Richards Facebook Group, but if you don’t want to join us there, I’ll announce each month’s category here at Southern Exposure, so you can read with us if you like. You can also tell us what you chose by commenting on this or any other post. Watch for the trumpet fanfare to find out each month’s category.

The category for January is:

A book by an author who is new to you.

There are 35 possible categories, assembled by the group, and the selection each month is computer generated. I’m delighted that this is our first, though, because finding a new author to read will be a breeze. You may even have stockpiled books that fit this category and all you have to do is dive in. Some of the categories are a bit harder. But we’ll be ready after this lovely warm up.

Read and enjoy, and tune in tomorrow to welcome the new year with a song and a greeting from Jiminy Cricket.

I read 140 books, I don’t remember how many I read on your challenge; I will have to find the paper to find out. I read a great new author, Sara Driscoll. If you like books about K-9’s and F.B.I., her(their) books are great.

My selection for new to me author is Celeste Ng and the book is “Little Fires Everywhere”. This is my book club’s January selection so that works well for me. ?
