Sunday Poetry: “Leaning into one another…”

Welcome to Sunday Poetry. If this is your first visit you can read about the purpose and inspiration of my Sunday poetry blogs here.

Sometimes the most romantic times come from simple, loving gestures, such as this one in the poem, “Leaning In” by Sue Ellen Thompson.

What is a time when you felt that sense of sheer blessedness?

Remember, we read poetry together here for the pure pleasure of the experience. There are no quizzes, no right ways to read or contemplate the poem we share. Absolutely no dissecting allowed. Just come along for the “read.” What line, word or thought will you carry with you this week? If you’d like to tell us where the poem took you? We’ll listen.

Thank you for sharing this one, it’s sweet and it reminds me of my grandfather saying to my husband and I when we were first married almost 35 years ago, “Never let a day go by without telling each other you love each other.” He died the following year, eighteen months after grandma passed. I always thought he missed her too much after almost 70 years together.

And I bet you took his advice to heart, too.
