Sunday Inspiration: You’re AWESOME!

you are AWESOME

I’ve shared quite a few “Do you need a good cry?” blogs with you over the years, but here’s one that I guarantee will give you a good laugh — and perhaps a lesson to go along with it.

I’m sure all of us have had the experience of herding your way onto a crowded plane, wrestling with luggage that has to be shoved into the overhead, and then settling down in your cramped seat surrounded by a zillion fellow travelers. Then you are greeted by a flight attendant who drones on with a safety lecture you’ve heard umpteen times.

In this article in the Huffington Post the writer shares his experience of boarding a plane and instead of the usual boring blabber, a flight attendant shocks all the passengers by telling everyone how AWESOME they were and then actually making the usual lecture enjoyable — I bet that’s never happened to you before.

Zach — the cheerful attendant — went person to person asking how he could help and reminding them over and over how AWESOME they were. It was obvious that his comments were genuine and heartfelt — this was not an act — and that he loved what he was doing and loved the people he was helping.

He left the author and the entire plane feeling high as a kite and happy to be alive. Just reading the article makes you feel good about the world — so that’s your cue to read it… right after these next two paragraphs.

Don’t we need more people like Zach, people who squeeze every ounce of joy out their lives, people who see others not as a threat or an “other” but as AWESOME individuals?

Let’s make a pact. Sometime today (and maybe everyday) let’s tell someone — anyone — how AWESOME they are. Then let’s sit back and watch the smiles grow.

Here I go. You’re awesome! Don’t tell me you aren’t. Just meditate on how awesome you really are. I’m going to.

What a great concept. No one knows what anyone is going through and just a smile or a kind word can go a long way to making someone’s day! Thanks Emilie!
