Sunday Inspiration: I Walk In Beauty
I WALK IN BEAUTY
I had a wonderful summer in Chautauqua, New York, but I do love being back in Florida.
I love the warm weather and the delicious food and fascinating people and cultural opportunities… but most of all I love the wildlife. Though civilization has diminished much of the wildlife in many places, in our part of Florida there are a wide range of birds, as well as alligators and the occasional deer, racoon, and bobcat.
We are fortunate to have a state park behind our home, so we are continually inspired by the beauty around us. My husband took these photos of some of the beautiful birds in our area.
Whenever I see such beauty I’m reminded of this Navajo prayer:
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
I walk in beauty.
Where do you find beauty in your life?
We find beauty in the ravine full of trees outside our windows. Although we are in the middle of a not-so-nice part of Toledo, we can pretend we are in a forest. We are also about two miles from one of Toledo’s many beautiful metroparks. When all else fails, we turn on eScapes TV. 🙂 We are blessed.
Today,(10-5) is the most beautiful day we’ve had since summer began in May. I live on the Gulf Coast of FL. I am on my porch looking at a beautiful Golden Rain tree and see my orange blooms of Chinese Pagoda, too. We have fall color down here if you look for it. I, too, love all the exotic wildlife here. Sandhill Cranes and Ibis in my yard. I miss my family, but I love it down here.
I find beauty in the simple act of sitting on the porch and listening to the birds. Gorgeous pictures!
