Read Along With Emilie Richards
I’m delighted with myself. Or more accurately with an idea “myself” had this week. The Read Along With Emilie Richards Facebook Group is now a fait accompli.
Those of you who read here regularly know about the reading challenges I’m participating in this year. In short, I’m doing the Better World Books 2017 Reading Challenge, as well as a personal 50 book challenge.
Still, the one thing that was missing? A better place to discuss the challenges that my readers and I have accepted. I asked you to comment on my blogs and tell us what you’re reading, but that turned out to be a bit clumsy and confusing. So I decided we needed a place where we could more easily post what we’re reading and for which challenge, if applicable. I also wanted a place where people can let me know they’re reading along so that at year’s end, I’ll have an easy list to choose five winners (randomly) for autographed novels.
With that in mind, Read Along With Emilie Richards, took its rightful place on Facebook yesterday.
Right now the group is a work in progress. This is a great time to join us, introduce yourself and tell us which, if any, reading challenge you’ve set for yourself or joined. Tell us what you like to read, and when you’ve read a book, pop on and tell us what it was and how you liked it. That’s all.
What else can we do? We can add files, for instance a list of the Better World categories. We can also post:
- Photos of book covers.
- Photos of yourself reading
- Favorite bookstores. (The more the merrier.)
If you’re industrious, you can add a file for the books you’re reading and add to it as you go. I plan to. It’s easy.
Maybe we’ll do mini-challenges, too. That sounds like fun, doesn’t it? For certain we’ll recommend books to each other, books we liked, books that will fit in the Better World challenge or other challenges we take on. Your creativity will be appreciated, because this will be your group every bit as much as mine.
As Read Along With Emilie Richards has been set up, you can invite friends who want to share books and/or challenges and then “buzz them in.” You don’t need me. Any member can accept anyone who wants to join us.
One of my Review Krewe, the warm-hearted Marsha Markham, has agreed to be a moderator along with me. I’ll pop in and out, but you can post and comment without Marsha or me. If you have questions, be sure to ask them. One of us will stop by soon to answer.
I hope you’ll join us. I don’t have lofty ideas about how large this group should be. I just want committed readers to have fun, to share what we love to read and those special books that touch our hearts. And I want a place where we can preen, just a little, as we meet our reading goals. Whatever they are.
Sounds like FUN!!!!
Love the idea of reading with your group. Enjoy your newsletters and looking forward to being in this group
Welcome aboard, April. I’ve been really surprised at the great turnout. Talking books is just too much fun to miss out on, I guess.
