Sunday Inspiration: Wedding Kindness
Did you see this inspiring story?
A couple who fell in love decided to have their wedding on Sanibel Island — one of my favorite places in the world. They felt so blessed to have found each other that they decided to show their appreciation and gratitude by giving back. So they asked the guests, as a wedding gift to the couple, to practice a random act of kindness. Great idea, right?
- One of the bridesmaids and her daughter brought pet supplies to a local shelter.
- The maid of honor brought a dozen donuts to local nail salon.
- A friend of the bride baked a bunch of cookies for her local UPS guy and his co-workers.
- Another friend bought lunch for the person behind them in line.
- A guest involved her family by donating supplies to a local women’s shelter.
What a wonderful idea by a couple who celebrated their love by spreading kindness and love all around them. None of these acts, alone, changed the world. But you can bet they changed somebody’s day. Now, multiple this by the billions.
Do you have an upcoming holiday or celebration where you could mark the event with a random act of kindness or even involve those you love? Wouldn’t this be a great tradition? When your family asks what you want for your next birthday? For Christmas? Why not this?
I’m putting on my thinking cap. And that’s the great thing about this unselfish gesture of that couple on Sanibel. The ripples go on and on. Maybe even forever.
I run thru Duncan donuts for my daughter ( I don’t eat there) when I’m going to get my haircut ( she’s a beautician) and I always pay it forward to the car behind me! Last time I did it I looked in my rear view mirror & thought I really don’t like the looks of that guy- but did it anyway. As I was waiting to turn onto the road he was next to me & made no jestire to try to thank me! I knew I didn’t like the looks of him but I still hoped I made his day!!
That is so sweet and a great thing to do. Someone did that for me at Dunkin Donuts at 30th St. Station in Philadelphia. So then I did that to someone behind me and I think it kept going that day. That is a wonderful idea. Our daughter passed away on March 29, 2017 and her birthday is coming up in Sept. 2017. It will be hard but I may make that suggestion to people as it gets nearer to her birthday as a memorial to her. Thanks.
What a great idea!
Super idea. My birthday is coming up, the perfect opportunity to suggest this to my friends and family.
Just a wonderful idea!
As a random act of kindness, may I suggest that the next time you see a a person or persons in uniform you thank them for keeping you and you family safe?
