Christmas Gifts: The Christmas Wedding Quilt plus A Booklover’s Carol
T’is that time of year, time for my annual Booklover’s Carol.
Some traditions are worth keeping. Think about that crumpled tin star that still goes at the top of your Christmas tree? The holiday recipe your mother always made oozing sugar, shortening and artificial flavors? Uncle Grover dressing up as Santa Claus in a moth eaten beard and red pajamas?
Right. Those traditions.
My booklover’s carols probably belong with Uncle Grover’s beard, but just the way we refuse to give up what we’ve loved in the past, I hope you’ll indulge me again.
And if you’re wondering about the Twelve Gifts of Christmas giveaway, who won copies of The Christmas Wedding Quilt, and what you need to do if you want to enter again?
That’s coming up, but first a song. . . This one’s for readers everywhere who might be expecting a book for the holiday.
Silent Night, Christmas Eve Night
Silent night
Christmas Eve night
Husband’s gone
Evening’s bright
Round our Christmas tree
Presents reside
Mine will be best of all
Books are inside.
Read until he comes ho–ome
Read until he comes home
Silent night
Christmas Eve night
Will he know?
Is it wrong or right?
If I sneak
Just one little peek
Maybe two
Since my spirit is weak?
Read until he comes ho–ome
Read until he comes home
Silent night
Christmas Eve night
My gift is promising
Sweet delight
Husband knows I love
Fiction and “non”
One piece of Scotch tape is
Not worth a darn
Read until he comes ho–ome
Read until he comes home
Silent night
Christmas Eve night
Carefully open it
Glorious sight
Box under paper
Is bright red and green
Lift up the top
But what’s to be seen?
Read until he comes ho–ome
Read until he comes home
Silent Night
Christmas Eve night
Husband is sneaky
No books are inside
Only a note saying
If this you see
Your presents are in my car
Turn on TV
You must wait for Christmas Day
Soon it will be Christmas Day
Last week was the first round of The Twelve Gifts of Christmas Giveaway.
Remember? I asked those of you with U.S. mailing addresses to comment on this blog and tell me one thing you’re doing over the holiday to celebrate. More than fifty of you took time out of the busy season to comment, and yesterday, six names were chosen randomly to win The Christmas Wedding Quilt.
I must say that I REALLY won the prize, because your Christmas traditions were a joy to read. (You can read them yourself in the comments on last week’s blog.)
And now, trumpet fanfare. . .
The winners of last week’s six book giveaways are:
Leslie R: Who will be serving Christmas brunch to her family.
Kelly G: Who makes Christmas cookies each year with her sister.
Sandy E: Who will be re-reading the Christmas Mouse.
Marsha M: Who takes treats to friends and visits with them.
Beth B: Who will make a special Christmas dinner for her husband and a friend.
Dell M: Who is looking forward to a Skype call with loved ones.
If your name wasn’t chosen in the first round, I still have six additional copies of The Christmas Wedding Quilt to give away. If you didn’t win, you can enter once more by commenting again, but be careful, this week the subject is different.
Please tell us the name of your favorite holiday song, movie, TV special or novel. Just one.
Easy, right? And short, since I know you’re all busy like Santa’s elves this week.
Here are the rules:
- Comment on this blog by sharing the name of your favorite holiday song, movie, TV special or novel
- If you win you must provide a U.S. mailing address
- For this second of the two giveaways, be sure to comment by Christmas Eve, December 24th.
- Only one comment per person will be entered.
- Winners from the first round won’t be considered in the second.
- Check next Wednesday’s blog to learn the names of the final lucky winners.
If you don’t win an autographed paperback of The Christmas Wedding Quilt, I still have good news. The ebook is only $1.99 at Amazon as of this writing.
