Sunday Inspiration: Record Breaker

I’m not a big basketball fan, but I love this story about a young Iowa Hawkeye player who could have broken the record for consecutive successful free throws but chose not to because the young man who held the record was killed in a car accident a few years earlier before he could continue his streak.

This is a touching story of generosity and compassion, which I hope will inspire other young people — and not so young — to value kindness over competition.

What sacrifice would you make for someone you cared about?

Now on to March Madness — whatever that is…

I’m a me society I felt that was very heartwarming for a young man at that age to sacrifice the fact that he could be talked about for years about his basketball career- however he now will be talked about for his compassion to others!
    Very inspiring….

I heard that story too and was so impressed in an ‘age’ of ‘records’ and notoriety ….headlines…selfies..etc. It was such an act of generosity and in the end he still made the headlines for that act. Wonderful!!! As an award one of my granddaughters received in school …. “Character Counts”!
