Sunday Inspiration: Don’t let that happen

Don't let that happen

“What if you wake up some day and you’re 65, or 75,
and you never got your memoir or novel written;
or you didn’t go swimming in warm pools or oceans all those years
because your thighs were jiggly and you had a nice big comfortable tummy.
Or you were so strung out on perfectionism and people-pleasing
that you forgot to have a big, juicy, creative life, of imagination
and radical stillness and staring off into space like when you were a kid?
It’s going to break your heart. Don’t let that happen.” -Anne Lamott

    Just finished “The House Guests” and really enjoyed it. I have read all of your books and seem to find some connection to the storyline. I live in central West Virginia but was born in the Shenandoah Valley and feel like I am where your books are located. Thank You for your good works!

      So glad you enjoy my books. And I can see why the SA books feel so familiar to you.

    Enjoy life a day at a time and try not to put off doing the things you enjoy. Work at not letting others steal your joy! Sometimes sitting outside on a quiet evening is do special. Second Chsnce’s don’t always come around!

    Wow! Anne’s comment could be about my life! Thanks for the wake-up call. In my 70s, I’m now going to try to start pleasing myself! Thanks for posting this, Em! God bless! 💕

      Pleasing ourselves isn’t something many of us feel comfortable with. Isn’t it nice to have that need validated? You go!

    I am reading Fox River and wondered if any of your novels are autobiographical?

    • Emilie Richards on August 19, 2021 at 3:36 pm

      Most authors novels are a bit autobiographical, but nothing in FR stands out for me in that way. Imagination is a wonderful thing.
