Sunday Inspiration: An Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, I’m sharing a favorite Irish Blessing and a photo of me in Ireland when I was researching The Parting Glass.

As someone who has a significant amount of Irish blood flowing through my veins, I appreciate blessings in our lives no matter where they come from.

May we bless the world every day with our love.

I never get tired of reading this Irish blessing. My paternal grandmother was Irish, she and my grandfather were married 72 years. Their wedding date? St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

My great-great grandparents immigrated from Ireland the day after they married. I have always wanted to visit Ireland but don’t think it will happen. I read Al your books that pertain to Ireland & enjoyed them a lot. Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt brought me many tears.

In tried to have my son on St Patrick’s Day in 1984. Went to a Soapbox Derby race, at a Mall. Jogged up and down our basement stairs. Then came the blizzard of the century. And Matthew arrived on March 18th. Having been raised Catholic, I was pretty pleased because his birthday is between St Patrick, and St Joseph. How great is that? Pretty Blarney good!
