Sunday Inspiration: Go for broke
“Go for broke. Always try and do too much. Dispense with safety nets. Take a deep breath before you begin talking. Aim for the stars. Keep grinning. Be bloody-minded. Argue with the world. And never forget that writing is as close as we get to keeping a hold on the thousand and one things–childhood, certainties, cities, doubts, dreams, instants, phrases, parents, loves–that go on slipping , like sand, through our fingers.” ― Salman Rushdie
As you may know by now, renowned author Salman Rushdie was attacked and seriously injured at our beloved Chautauqua Institution. I want to honor his creativity and courage by sharing his words with all of you. I pray for his recovery and the triumph of love over hate and truth over censorship.
I saw this on our local news here in Georgia. I’m shocked that he would be the target of violence. I thought about you also, knowing you spend your summers there. Prayers going out to him for a speedy recovery and to all of you, hoping the attacker if found.
I, too, saw news reports yesterday and today, here in Ohio. Shocking and sad. Prayers for his recovery and prayers for justice.
As a fellow Chautauquan with you and Mike, I felt the loss of innocence we shared at this horrifying moment. Not in Chautauqua! We celebrate learning, friendship, curiosity, peace and caring here. And we will again— in time. Hugs!!!
Senseless violence! Prayers for his recovery!
Thank you for sharing that. Such a sad thing for him and all of Chautauqua and those who love it there.
