Sunday Inspiration: Books
What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of the human discoveries, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time.”
~Carl Sagan
Agree! I’m so fortunate my parents always had reading materials in our house and made sure my siblings and I got to the library regularly. Also thankful to the nuns who taught me at the elementary school I attended and fed me as many extra worksheets and books I could handle. Ivanhoe, for one. I recently joined a book club at the library I worked at for five years and had the best time! So much fun talking with other readers!
Yes.. I’m reading Rising Tides and thinking did she know………
Great quote! Thank you.
