“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”

Nightbirde (December 29, 1990 to February 19, 2022)

Jane Kristen Marczewski, stage name Nightbirde, was a singer-songwriter who auditioned for America’s Got Talent and received a Golden Buzzer award for singing her original song “It’s OK.” As a confirmed fan of the show, I saw her sing in 2021, and again in a special show honoring Golden Buzzer winners. It’s a tear jerker, folks.

Nightbirde had terminal cancer when she auditioned, which gives her quote such a special meaning. She died before she could reach the show’s finals, but she is still so well remembered.

I think hers are words to live by. Times are hard for so many people right now, but we can still strive to be happy while we try to make the changes we must. We can’t wait, because chances are, life will hard at different points as we move through it. And isn’t it easier to move forward, deciding we will be happy as we do?
