Sunday Inspiration: We are all visitors

We are all visitors

“We are all visitors to this time,
this place.
We are just passing through.
Our purpose here is
to observe,
to learn,
to grow,
to love.
And then we return home.”

-Australian Aboriginal Proverb

What have you observed this summer that helped you to grow?

As we leave Chautauqua Institution after nine weeks of lectures and concerts, I have a lot to reminisce about as I return home to North Carolina. Among other things I’ve learned how much I value all the people who have so much to teach me, and how grateful I am for their wisdom and counsel.

The next step? Finding ways to act on what I’ve learned. How about you?

    Emilie,
Have you stopped writing? I enjoyed reading your novels and miss them.
    I’m a long-time fan.

Thanks for asking, Jean. I haven’t written in over a year, but I’m playing with an idea for a new book. So we’ll see. So much to do now, and I won’t ever write on deadlines again. That does make a difference. So glad you’ve enjoyed my books.

    Sounds like a wonderful summer.

This summer has been one of the worst as well as one of the best. I’ve learned so much from my mother while she went through three hospital and rehab stays. Shared scary moments and lots of ups and downs. But we also shared small victories and memories never talked about before. She has a quiet dignity about her that I admire more and more each day.

Emilie, please keep playing with that idea! What a treat it would be to read a new ER novel!
