Sunday Inspiration: Woman Power
Any time women come together with a collective intention, it’s a powerful thing. Whether it’s sitting down making a quilt, in a kitchen preparing a meal, in a club reading the same book, or around the table playing cards, or planning a birthday party, when women come together with a collective intention, magic happens. -Phylicia Rashad
Say Amen everyone!
Haven’t you experienced this magic of woman power many times over? Sadly sometimes we forget the power, creativity, and love that comes from women being together. Sometimes we forget to remind our daughters and granddaughters how important it is to have this magic in their lives.
The power of women is a major theme of my novels, whether it’s quilting groups in the Shenandoah Album series or the good friends in the Happiness Key series or the goddesses in my Goddesses Anonymous series. The power of women in community has always been a fascination and inspiration for me.
Women: Who in your community of women is your role model and greatest inspiration? Men: Do you honor the power of the women in your lives and support them?
Let’s keep the magic alive.
Interestingly, yesterday, I was at a tea party celebrating “The Famous Five”. These were five women from Alberta, whose efforts, along with the efforts of their friends, ensured that women in Canada would be equal to men in all areas. And it started with a tea party. 🙂
Great question Emilie. I have felt a little sorry for men because most do not have what we women do where friendships are. It’s interesting to me that my friends are each different and bring out a different part in me.
I have young mother friends who allow me to take their kids (or watch them once in awhile). I’m taking 3 sisters to celebrate their birthdays by seeing Beauty in the Beast tomorrow afternoon, for example…friends who are older than me too (which have dwindled as they’ve made their way to Heaven). I have church friends and Bunco friends.
I have writer friends and genealogy friends… my life is blessed by friendships.
Where would we be without our lady friends? They are our confidants, our mentors, and our supporters.
